LEMAG SLASHPOL
HOMOGENIZER & WATER-IN-FUEL EMULSIFIER
fuel-oil homogeniser
* Reduced NOx and particle emissions
* Improved fuel quality
* Improved combustion quality
* Reduced operational costs
* Improved waste oil incineration
The core of each system is the LEMAG SLASHPOL H homogenizer, which is based on the stator-rotor principle. The conical rotor runs against the stator with only very low clearance but high rotating speed. This creates strong frictional forces that cause the long carbon chains in the fuel to break up.
SLASHPOL H

THE FUEL OIL HOMOGENISER
homogeniser for reducing asphaltenes
The homogenizer LEMAG Slashpol H reduces the size of asphaltenes, creating a consistently fine fuel-oil structure that enables a more stable combustion and can therefore extends equipment life.
The fuel-oil homogenizer is based on the stator-rotor principle. The conical rotor with a highly efficient grinding profile runs against the stator with only very low clearance but high rotating speed. This creates strong frictional forces that cause the long carbon chains in the fuel to break up. The clearance between stator and rotor can be re-adjusted by LEMAG service engineers whenever necessary.
The system is equipped with a magnetic coupling that seals the homogenizer's mixing chamber hermetically.
The stator, rotor and certain parts of the mixing chamber housing are made of a special, extremely hard coated steel, while the chamber cap and magnetic coupling are made of stainless steel.
LEMAG SLASHPOL R

FOR OPTIMUM COMBUSTION AT REDUCED LOAD
water in fuel emulsifier for operating at reduced load
* Clean engine operation at reduced load
* Improved combustion quality
* Easy retrofit installation
* Reduced exhaust emissions
* Reduced operational costs
* Patent pending
At today’s fuel prices more and more ships operate on reduced speed in order to reduce the fuel consumption. Diesel engines however are not designed to run at part load over a long period. The reduced volume of fuel injected results in lower injection pressures, bad atomisation of the fuel and the larger fuel drops combust incomplete resulting in soot formation, wear of turbo chargers and piston crowns and increased particulate emissions.
The LEMAG Slashpol R is the solution to this problem. Instead of installing special fuel injectors that limit the engine power at the upper end of the range the missing volume of fuel is filled up with water which is completely emulsified into the fuel. This water in fuel emulsion allows to operate the engine at part load, even on longer periods, without harmful effects to the engine but at the same time ensures full power is available if required. In this case the system will automatically reduce the water content to get the required fuel amount available.
As a positive side effect the engine will run even cleaner then before, with reduced emissions of NOx and smoke whilst the fuel consumption is not negatively affected.
The fully automatic integrated control system also monitors the temperatures and viscosity of the emulsion to ensure that no damages to the engine are caused by a sudden change of the water-fuel ratio.
During the development of the LEMAG Slashpol R one of the main focuses was on the possibility to retrofit it into existing ships. The result is a plug-in system that can easily be installed onboard without interfering the normal ship’s schedule and can be commissioned by the crew onboard without the attendance of external technicians.
