A series of fuel injector testers for medium and high-speed 4-stroke engine fuel injectors with the need for a higher flow and/or pressure than the VPU 700-2 / 900-2 series can provide.  Available in special configurations for Caterpillar 3400 / 3500/ 3600 injectors as well as Rolls Royce injectors and certain Wärtsilä injectors. 

The VPU 1500 series can for certain engine types double as an airpowered Hydraulic Power Unit.

Feb 27th, 2009: Until now owners of Caterpillar engines has had no other options than going to Caterpillar, when they wish to ensure correct operation of their injectors. This results in many injectors and combined injectors-fuel pumps to be sent for overhaul at Caterpillars centralised facilities without knowing if there is an actual need for this overhaul.  IOP Marine has changed that!

Developed upon customer request
Upon several requests from customers of IOP Marine we have developed a new fuel injector test rig for medium speed and high-speed Caterpillar engines like the 3600 series of generator sets, which can save time, money and grant the owners the possibility to verify functionality of their exisiting injectors without having to go through a time-consuming and expensive swapping procedure unless necessary.  The new "VPU 1500 CAT" will enable our customers to determine the performance of the injectors and thereby save the trouble of sending well-working fuel injectors for service. Now an onboard or workshop engineer can easily take all the injectors from a Caterpillar engine, put them in our test rig, and evaluate if performance of the injector is as expected or if one / several are failing to perform at its optimum.

It's more than just a fuel injector tester!
Since the unit uses hydraulic oil under high pressure as test medium, the actual test also works as a cleaning process. Extensive in-house testing has shown that non-combusted fuel residue (e.g. seen as carbonisation) stuck in fuel injector spray holes is often removed simply by performing a couple of atomising spray tests.

So under all circumstances the injector will be in better shape when reinserted in the engine after tested with the VPU 1500 Cat.

Added functionality - works as a Hydraulic Power Unit
Due to the pneumatically powered high pressure pump built in the unit, it can also be used as a fast automatic hydraulic pump. With this unit there will be no more hydraulic jacks to be pumped up by hand. The process of operating hydraulic tools will be faster, easier and more accurate than with traditional hand-powered power units.

Our 4-stroke engine solutions are not limited to Caterpillar engines. Test equipment from  IOP Marine - Obel-P-Product is today specified for several types of Wärtsilä and MAN Diesel 4-stroke engines, and when looking at the smaller engines, we have developed  solutions for medium/high-speed engines from Daihatsu,Deutz, MTU and Rolls Royce
