VPUD 1100.2 SV

The VPUD 1100.2 SV can be used for the testing of MAN B&W slide valve and also traditional 2-/4-stroke engine injectors. The unit is equipped with a slide-valve protection system (Patent Pending) for correct testing of MAN B&W slide valve injectors.
The unit also features a precise digital read-out (± 1 bar) and a separate display for data collection(opening/venting pressure). The VPUD 1100.2 SV is compatible with injectors from MAN B&W, Wärtsilä and others - it tests all fuel-injectors and most engine safety valves onboard a vessel.

General info - IOP SafeTest Technology
Experience shows that the injectors can be damaged if tested incorrectly. The damage occurs because the conditions during testing of the fuel injectors are different than the conditions when the engine is running. Traditional testing where multiple openings take place during the "Opening Pressure Test" and the "Atomising Test" very easily damages the injector. This is not the fault of the injector - but the testing procedure needs to be modified.
The slide-valves were introduced in 2002 and today most new engines from MAN B&W are delivered with this new generation of fuel injectors. In order to ensure optimal injector performance, the injectors are to be tested at regular intervals, as specified by MAN B&W Diesel.
A new solution for correct testing of MAN Diesel slide-valve fuel injectors
Together with MAN Diesel A/S, IOP Marine has developed the IOP SafeTest Technology. The new SafeTest technology is an electronic solution, which does not only prevent execution of the troublesome "atomising test", but also makes sure that opening pressure test is executed correctly. All units equipped with the SafeTest Technology features a built-in "log" display showing the latest measured values. Since the introduction of the slide-valve fuel injectors, several improvements has been made in the injector design by MAN Diesel A/S. The IOP SafeTest Technology has been updated along with the injectors, and the latest revision of the IOP SafeTest Technology should work with all slide-valve injectors on the market today.
New test procedure
Along with the new SafeTest Technology, new testing procedures has been introduced. Before testing, we recommend that the revised testing procedures described in the manual is studied carefully, in order to avoid pre-mature activation of the SafeTest system. In case problems with pre-mature electronic air cut-off or the digital logging system persists, even when testing using the procedure described in the manual, do not hesitate to contact us for further technical assistance.

Engines supplied from Asia often are delivered together with local-made test equipment which may damage the MAN B&W Diesel A/S slide-valve fuel injectors during testing. If you have a vessel equipped with MAN B&W Diesel A/S slide-valve fuel injectors, and are insecure about the test equipment installed onboard, do not hesitate to contact IOP Marine - Obel-P Products for more information about the new generation of test equipment and the revised testing procedure.
